Emergency Vehicle Technician/Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Location: Fort Bliss, Texas
Heavy Equipment Mechanic (EVT)
Technica LLC is accepting applications for an Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT)/Heavy Equipment Mechanic position to perform on a Government contract with a place of performance at Ft. Bliss, TX.
  • Maintain and repair fire-fighting equipment and emergency vehicles including fire trucks.
  • Diagnose, adjust, repair and service a variety of systems including heating and air conditioning, engine and emission, suspension and steering, braking and electrical systems.
  • Inspect specialized equipment on the vehicles, such as hoses and fire extinguishers, and maintain documentation of their repair action in accordance with DA PAM 750-8.
  • Vehicles include a variety of gasoline and/or diesel fuel powered Army tactical and commercial vessels including fire department pumpers, tankers, and wild land brush trucks.
  • Repair actions are completed in accordance with Army 10/20 standards in accordance with applicable Technical Manuals, Safety of Use Messages (SOUM), Material Work Orders (MWO), and local directives work orders, drawings and established trade techniques.
  • Must have a CDL License (Class A).
  • Must have the ability to obtain Level I EVT certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Requires two (2) EVT exams (certification): F-1 Inspection, Maintenance & Testing of Fire Apparatus and F-2 Design & Performance of Fire Apparatus
  • Requires two (2) ASE certifications T-4 and T-5 prior to taking EVT certification exams.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the legal operation of fire apparatus; requirements of NFPA1911, federal and state regulations; and record-keeping requirements.
  • Must have intimate knowledge of all fire apparatus and how the various systems operate with each other; and complete required documentation.
  • Three (3) years’ experience working on and/or operating emergency vehicles.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain equipment maintenance and repair logs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to pass a post offer drug screen clearance.
  • Must be able to lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 70 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 40 pounds.
  • Required to pass a Federal Background Investigation to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
Work Environment
Work is primarily performed on the site of a military base.

This position requires sufficient physical ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform work in a site maintenance setting; which includes, frequent interruptions, the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time (2+ hours at a time), to work in cramped areas for prolonged periods of time (2+ hours at a time), to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist, to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 40-70 pounds of weight, to climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment, to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, blowing sand, heavy rain, and snow and sleet, to operate tools requiring repetitive hand movement, to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation, to verbally communicate to exchange information with or without accommodation, to see in the normal visual range with or without correction, and can hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
