We are currently recruiting for a Human Resources Manager for a position at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
The Human Resources Manager will work in conjunction with Corporate Human Resources, to be directly responsible for the overall human resources and employee relations function for a specific site.  This position will be a stand-alone HR role, reporting to the Corporate Human Resources Director in Charleston, South Carolina and dotted-line to the site Project Manager.  This role requires an organized, self-directed and detail-oriented candidate who will lead human resources efforts, including; overall site human resources administration and management of recruitment, onboarding, separations, and employee relations. Additional responsibilities and duties include:
  • Performs a variety of responsible and confidential human resources management tasks.
  • Provides accurate and timely responses to inquiries from employees, management, and Corporate.
  • Fosters open communication with all employees.
  • Collaborates at Site level to implement HR Initiatives/Programs. 
  • Investigates employee relations issues and provides guidance for effective resolution.
  • Provides HR guidance, interpretation and application consistent with Company policy and compliant HR practices. 
  • Leads performance management and monitors effectiveness of the program.
  • Promotes safety and investigates workers compensation claims.
  • Leads recruiting efforts and follows Technica Corporate hiring processes workflow.
  • Responsible to drive correct Corp HR process for internal position postings.
  • Processes new hire onboarding.
  • Establishes and maintains employee records and reports.
  • Maintains human resource information. Ensures all PII and HR related data is kept confidential and records are maintained in accordance with the law and Technica policies.
  • Receives employee claims, conducts investigations, following professional HR practices that support good employee relations, law compliance, and anticipates/prevents low performance via good communication.  Ensures corporate guidance and policies are followed with regard to all HR claims and investigations.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements in coordination with corporate HR Management.
  • Recommends to Corporate HR Management new approaches, policies and procedures to affect continual improvements in efficiency of HR services performed. Implements approved policy and procedure revisions following corporate approval.
  • Follows employee handbook and policies. Provides recommendation for process/policy improvement to Corporate HR.
  • Promotes a welcoming, supportive and engaging work environment for each new or transferring employee sets the stage for success by scheduling and/or facilitating New Employee Orientation in coordination with Corporate HR and Site Line Manager.
  • HRIS data entry.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or comparable field, from an accredited institution.  
  • 5-7 years of industrial human resources, employee relations or industrial relations experience that demonstrates a full and broad understanding of the legal and operations issues in a diverse workplace. 
  • Must have a working knowledge of local, state and federal employment regulations. Preferred certification as a PHR or SHRM-CP. 
  • Solid experience with HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems, HR policy, and employee relations.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel a must.  GoogleDocs, Google Mail proficiency preferred.

  • Ability to follow guidelines, regulations, and policies, as well as the ability to interpret and explain complex policies and procedures in a clear and consistent manner.
  • Manages time effectively when accomplishing tasks and assignments.

  • Proven ability to effectively and respectfully interact comfortably with individuals at all levels of the Company.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and manage resources to accomplish time-bound projects.
  • Proven ability to multi-task.
  • Experience with HRIS a must.
  • Works with minimal supervision.

Work Environment
Work is performed primarily in a standard professional office setting.
