M1 Turret Mechanic

Location: Fort Bliss, Texas
Technica is recruiting for a M1 Turret Mechanic to work on a Government contract with a place of performance based out of Ft. Bliss, TX. This is a temporary position to support a Left Behind Equipment (LBE) project.  
 
Duties and Responsibilities:    
  • Perform Technical Inspections (TIs), verification inspections, preventive maintenance/repairs on the M1 Abrams Tank Turret, automotive systems, and various light/heavy-wheeled vehicles.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions on vehicular-mounted armament, associated fire control, and related systems and components of M1 tanks, the CEV and associated equipment;
  • Diagnoses and corrects malfunctions of vehicular-mounted armament, associated fire control, and related systems and components of the M1 and the CEV.
  • perform maintenance of cannon assemblies, cannon assemblies, cannon recoil assemblies, traversing systems, elevating systems, stabilization systems, electrical power distribution systems, electrical firing systems, hydraulic systems, sighting and fire control systems, exterior, interior, armament automotive accessories, cupola/commander's weapon station/hatch systems, NBC system, fuel systems, turbine engines, gasoline and diesel engines, cooling systems, transmissions/transfers, brake systems, suspension systems, steering systems, fire extinguisher/suppression systems, and final drives; inspects and troubleshoots M113 series vehicle automotive systems, recovery vehicle (M88A1) automotive systems, light wheeled vehicle automotive systems
  • Performs other duties assigned.
 
Requirements:
  • Former Soldier with prior military occupational skill (MOS) 63T is preferred but not required.
  • Formal training (completion of MOS 63T or 91A course conducted under the auspices of the USA Ordnance Center and School) or three to five years’ experience working on the M1 tank turret.
  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret US Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Must have the ability to verify serviceability of equipment, determine the economic reparability of the item and determine the extent of maintenance effort and repair parts required to restore the item to the prescribed serviceable condition.
  • Must be familiar with DA Form 5988–E/DA Form 2404.
  • Must be able to lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 70 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment.
  • Must be able to stand for at least two continuous hours
  • Must be able to work in cramped areas for at least two continuous hours.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, blowing sand, heavy rain, and snow and sleet
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain NACI.
  • Must be able to function with a basic level of English oral and written language skills
