Supply Technician (IPBO/ARMORER)

Location: Fort BLiss, TX
 Technica seeks to fill the position of Supply Technician (IPBO/ARMORER) at Ft. Bliss, TX.
 
Duties:    
  • Performs limited aspects of technical supply management work (e.g., inventory management, storage management, cataloging, property utilization) related to depot, local, or other supply activities.
  • Work usually is segregated by commodity area or function, and controlled in terms of difficulty, complexity, or responsibility.
  • Assignments usually relate to stable or standardized segments of technical supply management operations; or to functions or subjects that are narrow in scope or limited in difficulty.
  • The work generally involves individual case problems or supply actions.
  • This work may require consideration of program requirements, together with specific variations in or from standardized guidelines.
 
Requirements:    
  • This position performs all aspects of technical management work (e.g., inventory management, storage management, cataloging, property utilization) related to depot, local, or other supply activities.
  • A good working knowledge of the governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
  • Keeping and maintaining security of weapons. To include open and closing and required sensitive item inventories. Preparing maintenance requests and transporting weapons. Tracking quarterly and annually maintenance requirements.
  • Analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to collect the necessary data, to establish the facts, and to take or recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines.
  • Post transactions to the installation property books and supporting transaction files.
  • Helping to determines method of obtaining relief from responsibility for lost, damaged and destroyed supply items.
  • Prepares unit/organizational supply documents and maintains an automated supply system for accounting of installation supplies and equipment.
  • Inventory management: Responsible for inventory management of decentralized and decontrolled items, including supplies, and equipment. Responsible for issue, receipt, and accountability of all property book items, to include sensitive items.
  • Material coordination: Performs material coordination duties for special programs, maintenance, or production shops. Duties are performed on the basis of practical experience in processing and expediting supply transactions related to the particular organizations serviced.
  • Cataloging: Writes item descriptions for a range of new items entering the supply channels of a particular agency or field establishment. Cataloging supplies and equipment to standardize requisitions for accountability. Reviews existing stock catalogs, manufacturers' catalogs, drawings, or other resource materials, for the purpose of matching characteristics or part numbers to identify duplicate items already catalogued or otherwise recorded in the supply system.
  • Works within a framework of established supply regulations, policies, and procedures, or other governing supply management guidelines.
  • Deals with a variety of operating officials regarding limited aspects of program needs of the organization serviced. May contact representatives of commercial firms to obtain information regarding new items of supply, item characteristics, or procurement lead time; or representatives of government agencies (Federal, State or local) regarding the utilization of property.
  • Must have High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Former US Army MOS 92A or 92Y preferred.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Must have experience 3 years of experience.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of the governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment including working in hot, dusty, windy areas for prolong time periods.
  • Be able to pick up and movement items within a 50 lbs. restriction
  • Be capable of climbing and working on equipment at a 10 feet above ground limit
  • Be capable of using and understanding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of a 92Y.
  • Experience with Logistics Information Systems (LIS) such as Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-A), Logistic Information Warehouse (LIW) and Unique Item Tracking
Desired Qualifications:
  • Analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to quickly research and collect the necessary applicable data, to establish the applicable facts, and to take or recommend action based upon proven applications or interpretation of systematic established guidelines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge to operate and perform required duties using GCSS-A and normally approved office computer automation equipment.
  • An associate or higher degree in business, management, logistics or the equivalent military service schools graduations to verify the abilities and competence required to perform in a wide scope of supply related tasks.
