Transportation Manager

Location: Fort Bliss, Texas
Technica LLC is recruiting for a Transportation Manager to work on a Government contract with a place of performance based out of Ft. Bliss, TX.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Performs as the Logistics Manager with overall management and supervisory responsibility for the operation of the Transportation Branch, Directorate of Logistics.
  • Performs as manager for all aspects of technical transportation management work (e.g., vehicle and freight movement management, personal property movement and storage management, railroad operations and management, heavy equipment material handling and aircraft loading and unloading) related to an installation transportation activity.
  • Work usually covers multiple areas and types of transportation of freight, personal property, and/or passengers. Applicant must be capable of dealing in many commodity areas or functional areas in a planned customer support and priority manner.
  • Is the chief logistician in the branch and controls the entire operation while managing the four various departmental areas.
  • Management is based in terms of priority completions, with concentration focused on the current and long term evaluation of the customer support mission, separate departmental managerial difficulties, and the complexity of performing in budget with limited manpower resources.
  • Understands that the amount of responsibility delegation that is appropriate for each segment of operations is constantly reevaluated based on mission completions and positive customer feedback.
  • Assignments usually relate to the operation of the various standardized segments of technical transportation management operations; and include functions and subjects that are wide in scope and unlimited in difficulty.
  • The work generally involves multiple case problems or transportation actions to obtain resolution in a timely manner associated with freight, personal property or personnel.
  • This work may require consideration of several program requirements, together with specific variations in or from standardized guidelines, based on mission completion goals and objectives.
  • Reports to the Program Manager.

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must be extremely customer focused and capable of long range planning, analysis, and the ability to understand budgetary constraints while processing the following additional requirements traits:
 
  • Must have at least five years of supervisory experience and a comprehensive knowledge of governing regulations, policies, and procedures (knowledge of Federal traffic management policies and special handling or movement requirements).
  • A good working knowledge of the governing transportation systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
  • An understanding of the needs of the organizations serviced and their overall mission completion concerns.
  • Analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to quickly research and collect the necessary data, to establish the applicable facts, and to take or recommend action based upon application or interpretation of systematic established guidelines.
  • Must have several years’ experience in and with military transportation and logistics systems at the Brigade or above levels.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of all areas of military transportation to include Personal Property shipments and entitlements, Non-Tactical vehicle management, GSA lease procedures, freight operations, and deployment support.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of personal property shipping entitlements.
  • Must have the appropriate verbal and written communications skills to conduct meetings, execute plans, prepare reports, plans, and working instructions.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
