Transportation Coordinator

Location: Fort Greely, Alaska
Technica LLC is accepting applications for the position of Transportation Coordinator located at Fort Greely, Alaska.

  • The Transportation Coordinator processes requests for shipment of material to authorized domestic and overseas customers
  • They provide shipping information to carriers, customers, and shipping offices
  • The Transportation Coordinator types distributes and files forms, letters and reports, traces missing or late shipments
  • Processes documents for shipments and inputs information into registers, carrier tenders and tariffs and reference files, in manual and computer-generated format for functional purposes
  • Utilizes and complies with multi-service regulatory sources to determine special service requirements, hazardous precautions, security considerations, utilizing transportation, security and safety regulations
  • Makes cost comparison using carrier tenders and tariffs, agency contracts, and ETA System (Electronic Transportation Acquisition)
  • Reviews service features for compatibility with shipment requirements
  • Request routing authority and instructions from (SDDC) Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Center for shipment that require special services
  • Provide estimated rate for various mode of shipments at customers request so that customer can make shipment by the most economical means available.
  • Arranges pickup and delivery times with carrier
  • Determines type of equipment needed to meet customer requirements, regulatory, federal, state, and local law.Utilizes CMOS (Cargo Movement Operations System) to book shipments on military air flights to overseas locations
  • Prepares documentation including airbills and customs forms for shipment to overseas locations going commercial air to final destination
  • Utilizes Defense Property System (DPS) to counsel and support customers personal property movement
  • Prepare work orders and other related documents before scanning i.e. removing staples, clips, unbinds, cut, unfolds, etc. Incumbent will then scan all sizes of documents using document and large format scanner; file records as needed; destroy documents as stated within the policy regarding disposition instructions
  • Reports carrier performance failures as required utilizing the (GFM) Global Freight Management System
  • Conducts updates and inputs container data in Army Container Asset Management System (ACAMS)
  • Prepares Report of Shipments for each shipment containing classified, sensitive, Class A & B explosives, or those shipments requiring special handling to the consignee no later than 24 hours after release of shipment to carrier
  • Prepare and maintain documents for issue, return and receipt of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) containers on the installation and those issued to supported units and activities in accordance with DoD 4500.9-R Vol II and AR 710-2
  • Operate Material Handling Equipment for the upload & download of containers; move containers within and between container yards
  • Prepare all documentation required for each shipment as required including but not limited to Bills of Lading, Signature and Talley, Shippers Declarations for Hazardous Material, Commercial Invoices, and Shippers Export Declarations
  • Reviews incoming documentation for discrepancies in quantity or damage and completeness of documentation
  • Coordinates with commercial and government shippers, and carriers to resolve discrepancies.  
  • Prepares required documentation to clear discrepancies

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work well with others under strict time requirements
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and comprehend pertinent regulations
  • Computer literacy required
  • Must be able to operate office equipment
  • Subject to random drug testing on an unannounced basis
  • Must possess a current state driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain license and operate Material Handling Equipment
  • Position may require obtaining an endorsement for HAZMAT
  • Prior experience working with Military transportation of freight with any International Air Transport Association (IATA), International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG). 49 Code of Federal Regulations and/or Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES) is a plus.
