Technica is recruiting for a Welder/Appliance Mechanic to perform work on a Government contract at Ft. Wainwright, AK.

Job duties include:
1. Performs welding duties using electric and wire feed, Oxygen/acetylene and/or inert gas-shielded welding processes. Independently performs the repair, alteration, and installation of high Roll-over Protective Structures and Enclosures. Work involves planning, laying out work, positioning and clamping work, pre-heating metal, and maintaining temperature to prevent distortion. Uses templates, jigs, blueprints and other guides to repair, modify or fabricate metal items for all types of equipment, including repair of light or intricately made mechanical parts, which must fit in assemblies where close tolerances are required. Makes a wide range of welds from simple to precision welding, determining disassembly or repair necessary and materials to be used. Works with light, heavy gauge and hardened metals, welding all the various types of weld able items assigned, using flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions. Work processes include pre-heating, brazing, bead welding, tack welding, flame cutting, carbon arc, pressure welding, and heat treating; selection of type of rod and size of tip to accomplish weld, determining heat necessary, setting up and adjusting equipment, maintaining proper speed, flame, motion, tip angle and position to produce desired results.
2. The Appliance Mechanic performs routine preventative maintenance and repairs on food service equipment, such as hot tables, ovens, deep fryers steam kettles, cold tables, reach in coolers and freezers, walk in coolers and freezers, HVAC units and ice machines.

•Lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 70 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 40 pounds.
•Must be able to climb in and out of vehicles and related equipment.
•Must be able to stand for at least two continuous hours.
•Must have a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
•Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, blowing sand, heavy rain, and snow and sleet.
•Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
•Must be an U.S. citizen.
•Must have a good working knowledge of equipment maintenance programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
•Must have an understanding of the needs of the organization serviced.
•Analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to collect the necessary data to establish the facts, and take or recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines.
•Must have or be able to obtain a EPA Universal Certification for the handling of refrigerant
•Must be able to use electrical test equipment such as VOM, clamp on Ammeter, etc.
•Must be able to use refrigerant monitoring equipment.
