Mechanical Engineer

Location: Ft. Stewart, GA
Technica is looking for a Mechanical Engineer for a Government contract with a place of performance at Ft. Stewart, GA.  This positions performs mechanical design duties in the fields of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), as well as plumbing, including load calculations, equipment design, and layouts. 

Specific Duties:
  • Serves as a senior fire protection, mechanical, and plumbing designer for new construction and renovation of existing structures. 
  • Performs all fire protection design duties for wet pipe and dry pipe fire protection systems in a wide variety of facilities.
  • Performs mechanical design duties in the fields of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), as well as Plumbing, including load calculations, equipment design, and layouts. 
  • Specifies equipment and fixtures. 
  • Field-verifies existing site conditions to obtain information concerning problem areas of engineering design and/or construction in order to negotiate resolutions, as well as provide current status to customer.
  • Submits specifications and cost estimates for materials and labor, scheduling, and code requirements for large and small construction projects. 
  • Coordinates with Technical Managers in Engineering Branch, Construction Branch, Real Estate, Contracting, Public Safety, etc., to ensure that projects are complete, integrated, and satisfy the requirements of the Using Service. 
  • Provides technical assistance to other using services and agencies located at 2 installations. 
  • Reviews designs submitted by Architect-Engineering (A/E) firms for accuracy and compliance.  
  • Reviews technical criteria pertaining to project functions and scope to determine if the completed project will perform as intended. 
  • Screens review comments to determine if they are within the project’s contract scope and also comply with pertinent technical criteria.
  • Initiates and coordinates measures to resolve significant technical and engineering problems.  
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable safety rules and regulations, as well as applicable building codes. 
  • Represents  both installations in frequent contacts with local, state, federal, and other government agencies. 
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited school of Engineering.
  • Have a minimum of 4 years practical experience.
  • Current Professional Engineer accreditation
